The opportunity
Built in 1844, the Reale Società Ginnastica di Torino (known to everyone as Palestra Magenta) needed a window solution that could bring real energy performance improvements to the building without compromising its historic identity. Arched openings on a protected façade meant there was no room for approximation: every profile, weld and finish had to respect both the building's age and its architectural character.
What we did
RI.EL.CA Torino installed OptiFusion PVC windows engineered specifically for arched openings — a technically demanding format that depends on years of experience to get right. The frames were finished in a refined wood-effect surface to match the building's original character, with welding lines executed to a standard fine enough to preserve the illusion of continuity across each arch. Every detail was reviewed by the full team, given the profile of the building.
The outcome
The result is a building that performs like a modern structure while looking exactly like itself: energy efficiency has been meaningfully improved, and the historic character and charm of the 1844 gymnasium remain untouched.
